What is it?
Oud is resinous heartwood formed when agar trees respond to a specific mould infection.
Where it comes from
Traditionally Southeast Asia and the Middle East; most modern perfumery uses sustainable or synthetic oud.
What it smells like
Leathery, smoky, medicinal, animalic, deeply woody.
In perfume
A little oud reads as depth and shadow. A lot of oud takes over the whole composition.
